Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

Picked up a load of car batteries in New Castle, DE, to be delivered in St. Joseph, MO. Appointment time was 11:00pm local (so midnight as far as my body and sleep cycle are concerned). Since I have minimal interest in delivering a load at midnight, and even less interest in trying to find a parking space at midnight, I "accidentally" showed up at 11:00am instead, just to see if they'd unload me anyways.

Turns out, the answer is "no". So now I am parked at a nearby Love's, and will head back that way in 12 hours.

 

You can go and visit the Pony Express Museum there in St. Joseph. Right behind it is the home of Jesse James. Then you can point back at this day and say it was very enjoyable and educational.

 

By a curious coincidence, the place I am delivering to is right next to the Pony Express Warehouse.

Probably not as educational, but much more convenient for a 72-foot long vehicle.

 

Dropped at the Patton warehouse yesterday evening in Dublin then bounce to the J in wythevilleto see if I could wash my truck but the line was long and long again this morning. Got sent a live load at pepsi but the product wasn’t made yet. Got sent a Sam’s club load to north canton for 1800 tonight. Thankfully in and out pretty quick. Next load loads in the morning near cleveland to Sam’s club in Taylor Pa. Had to reserve a spot at the TA in Lodi/Seville parking wise cuz the Loves was full by the Sam’s I unloaded at.

 

Been one of my better weeks in a long time,delivering to Dublin from Michigan,than I'm sure it will probably be something to do with gatorade.

I actually did love the Wytheville to Mountain Top loop. I mentioned that to dispatch once. Then I didn’t see another Gatorade run for six months.

 

Yep. That was always the way to not ever do a run again. Tell them you’d love to be on it. When I was taking care of my mother, I wanted to do Givens in Chesapeake to Sulligent AL then Byhalia to Jacksonville, then from there back to RVA. Did it for 3 weeks and then poof.

 

Deadhead back to yard,to drop trailer for mechanical issues. 11hrs on 70,with nothing coming back to Sunday night,we'll see what they got.
