I hauled pallets of wood shavings to a place in a conestoga a while back. The guy couldn’t believe it was strapped. Said he’d never seen pallets of shavings strapped in a conestoga before. I realize they realistically wouldn’t fall off, but seems like at least the back pallet should be strapped.

I haul grass seed in a curtain van with no straps everyday. Even got an unsecured ticket for it. Went to court fought it and won. The curtains and the poles are good enough according to the courts here in Oregon. Granted it’s a curtain van not a conestoga. I couldn’t trust a conestogo.

How long does it take to throw straps over that? 5 minutes ? Save 5 minutes but risk everyone's life around you.
    Sounds like a great idea

You better hope u never get in a wreck and one of those pallets come off and land on someone car. You will be going to prison. all to save 5 minutes

How does it put everyone’s life at risk.?
It’s the same thing as a van they don’t have strapped just load locks. So every single van it risking everyone’s life because they don’t strap?

And no I won’t be going to prison. The state said that how I haul it is safe that’s why I beat the ticket.

Back in the day of full plywood sidekits. No one strapped pallet freight. Add a short 2x4 in the middle pocket between stakes and haul grain or produce also.

I have light weight boards now. They are lighter, look better, and don't have to paint. But if you drop one on a toothpick, it will go through it.

Kinedyne (and I'm sure others by now) has made a load-rated curtain for almost a decade. They are far more than a tarp on a frame like a Conestoga. They are literally a soft-sided dry van.

It seems like every Tom, Dick and Harry that gets a flashing light on their pickup thinks they can park anywhere they want to.

That double deck system is pretty cool. I've seen something similar in LTL trailers and always wondered if it could work on a flatbed.

I'd still be inclined to throw straps though, if for no other reason than to make it look good.
