What drives me nutz is the starting and stopping. The #### things belt squeal when shutting down. And then when starting up they click and clack and beep and carry on and wake me up. I always tried to park nose in as often as I could so to be away from this stuff. Also nose in makes it harder for Roehl and others to tear off the front of my truck. (happened in Des Moines)
The end spots where nose in worked were often in short supply.

I only idle to keep charge my batteries or if it is really hot or really cold.
The thing that amazes me about nosing in is, I used to go to the furthest spot possible and nose in. No other truck driver would park like that right?
The parking lot would be empty except for me, nose in, in the furthest spot out. The very next truck to pull in the lot would nose in next to me and idle!!!
    It happened every single time.

now i can't speak fo everyone but i idel mine all the time it's an old habbit that come from old trucks, if you shut the #### think off it would not start in the mourning so we let them run, and i sill do it today but today it's mainly for the ac , an heat. when you have been out here awhile you will get use to it and you will find it won't bother you a bit. just like when i go to bed i leave my marker lights on, thats to keep some half asleep driver from running into my truck make it a lot easier to see. .

and just think , if all of us turned off the engine and the lights no one would have anytrhing to complain about and that would be tragic, don't believe i could stand it .

man dont do that! dry ice sublimates (turns into without going through a liquid phase) into carbon dioxide gas, and the gas takes up far more space than the solid form. it will displace all the air in the truck and asphyxiate you. When I was a kid i made dry ice bombs by sealing it in a 2 liter plastic pop bottle......you can hear the explosion from a mile away.....

If I'm hot I idle, If I'm cold idle, if all the idiots in the TS are being loud idiotic jerk offs then I idle to drown them out. I won't freeze for anyone and I don't roast for anyone either. I'm sure people get pissed at me because I idle at temps they think I shouldn't need to but oh well they'll get over it. I get hot very easy and cannot sleep when it's hot so I usually idle if it's warmer than 60 out.

I idle mine just to annoy everyone else :biggrin_25526:

But seriously, everyone's comfort level is different, I've slept with mine off and temps in the low 20's overnight, but I'll idle it if the temps are above 60 out, I can't stand the heat, and I refuse to sleep with the windows open. Too much chance for someone to try and break in.

It took me awhile to get used to the opti-idle. middle of the night I would be asleep and the #### truck would start on it's own. Took about two week's of jumping up from a deep sleep to grab a blunt object for who I "thought" was trying to still the truck with me in it. About the funniest #### thing you could ever see. Took me about an hour to get back to sleep after getting my heart rate to slow back down.
