Hey fellow mechanics what is your go to hydraulic testing equipment for diagnostic of any sort of issues I found some on Amazon but that’s some small lines compared to what our units have lol.
But in the mean time can you help me on an issue we have a combo vac truck with a blower actuation issue. It’s on a 2020 kenworh T800 the set up is a west tech vac not for hydravacing. Anyways the issue is it takes forever for the blower to get working specially when it is cold out. Today it took the blower 30mins to kick in. We had switched out the control valve off the side of the Dan foss pump but didn’t do anything. As we were told it has little orifices that could be preventing oil to get through. So would the issue be in the drive motor for the blower or possibly the relief valve which is the lever operator this Brannon hydraulics company is calling it. We use MV22 Hydraulic oil!

What hydraulic oil are you using, sounds like possibly the wrong viscocity for your application? For test purposes, depending, I usually just have multiple PSI gauges and build test hoses

It’s MV22 we use it in everything all of our vac trucks use it. Even in the shop over night it will take a bit to fire up also. Which it shouldn’t -
What weight of oil are you running in that unit? It was -22 this morning when I woke up.
This truck have an AMT, Allison or a manual transmission? Could it be a PTO engagement issue and not a pump issue?
Bear with me, been a few years since I worked on a vac truck. I seem to recall they're more or less a hydrostatic loop that supplies the blower drive motor. Can you post the pump, motor and valve info? Possibly some pictures?
As for test equipment for hydraulic systems its mostly gauges of various pressure ratings and lots of adapter fittings and test hoses to tee into lines. Flowmeters are handy for checking flow/pressure and loading up the pump/motor to check efficiency but they're not cheap.
If you're running a Westech unit I'd assume you're near Leduc? I've dealt with Source Hose and Industrial in Nisku quite a bit in the past. They'd likely have most of what you'd need for gauges, pressure test quick connects, lines etc.Magoo1968 and Big Road Skateboard Thank this. -
Long shot but you wouldn't happen to have a hydraulic schematic for the blower system?
Also, MV22 should be fine, looks to have a pour point of -45. -
oh perfect maybe you’d know the issue. Ha we’ve always had custom vacs never really an issue for blower wise, but this west tech is a different breed. We use MV22 oil. Sorry I just edit my post to add that. It has a manual 18spd. PTO has been rebuilt! Pretty sure pump is fine cause all the other Hyd side of things work Hoist, pressure washer, roper, but the PTO does sometimes stick in and won’t disengage for a bit.
I’ve never posted pics before but will try I will maybe look into those companies all we have local here is a Gregg’s. I found some kits on Amazon may give it a try! -
No id have to contact westech on that I’ve tried getting one before but there not the best to deal with unfortunately! As they want to send their mechanic 10hrs north to work on this. And also told me it’s the blower which I highly doubt cause when the blower kicks in it’s the best vac we have. -
Here’s a few pics il get few more

You're a bit of a drive away. If you were in the Leduc area I'd take a drive there and take a look for a double double lol.
Most of my vac experience was on Custom Vac stuff but they had a couple Westech units. I used to work for that vac truck company with all the red trucks so that kinda gives you an idea of how much my experience is dated lol.Perchie15 Thanks this. -
This is the actuator that activates the blower….. not sure what valve u refer to.. the pump is a Danfoss. All I know is dont have that email from way back when we bought the compensator valve from west tech. With the model and all. The motor is a Roxroth
Relief pressure settings are manually controlled with the lever operator. Mounting flanges and a lever position lock are also includeAttached Files:
