Run the rock truck up on blocks, pull the beam under it, block between the beam and the rock truck, use the neck to lift the rock truck off the blocks on the ground, pull the ground blocks out, put the neck down and the rock truck is off the ground.

    it’s basically this in reverse.

run the neck up and air the trailer up and you will eventually get enough wood under the tires to raise the machine off the blocks. The issue is mostly the front tires on articulated haulers or the rear tires on dumps as anything close the beaver tail means the neck needs to be to the moon. The trailer suspension only lifts it so much. Sometimes we’re at 20 or so inches of wood under parts of the machine just to get the tires in level with the bottom of the beam.

Not as exciting as beam work but it pays the bills. Managed to get the 70’ feet of trailer around the u turn as well.

Ok not a massive load but thought it might be of interest.
Guy I follow on FB in UK,runs the rotators, called out when trailer, actually a cut down tilt/ tautliner, crumbled under the weight/ poor loading of a crane boom section, was transferred to a step frame FB_IMG_1739707241882.jpg

Interesting. Crane boom sections aren't all that heavy but I see how a good share of the weight is concentrated in one spot. It's also interesting to see the rotators mounted on KWs in the UK.

    Thanks for sharing.

Question.. Last week, I seen a flatbed... yes a flatbed, not a drop deck or a lowboy.... with like eight axles under it. It had axles almost all the way up to the dollies (legs). In all my time, I've never seen a flat with that many axles. Not sure what it was carrying. I think it may have been tarped but I think it was a low profile load. Maybe 3 ft tall. Whatever it was, obviously was heavy. Anybody have any idea what a trailer like that might have been designed to haul? If I remember right, it was on I-20 in either La or Tx. Might have been one of you guys.
