@dave01282000 worked for Prime and has no horror stories at all.
You'll make good paychecks there.

 

There are lots of drivers that are happy with Prime. That's crazy how some people just utilize bad stories and assume that they're a bad company without actually working for them. I know a guy who lives near Nashville who's been with them for 6 years. He's a trainer for them. Every single company has crybabies.

 

I don't even look at YouTube videos that drivers post. I have in the past and most of them are just junk that I wouldn't reference to choose a company.

 

You don't know what your talking about!!! Lots of prime drivers have become millionaires through the lease purchase deal they offer!!!!

 

Congrats on your new job! Good for you! Riding Greyhound is a risk, for sure. The last (and I mean last!) time I road with them, they left my luggage out. Thank God I was watching and asked for them to put it in with the others. They would have left it had I not been out watching. I guess they pulled it out to get to someone elses luggage. Also, one of the bus drivers acted as if he was tweaked out on drugs. He was scary! I did not feel safe riding on his bus.

 

I am the same way. If I listened to youtube videos or talked to some of these drivers, I'd probably be all the way out of the industry. Too many drivers nowadays are looking for the "perfect company," meaning the one that will get all the approval from the boys.

 

And now....with all of the above posts taken care of....it's time I think for the appropriate relevant PSA....

WHAT AT LEAST SOME CARRIERS REALLY DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW:

To ALL current & prospective drivers looking for a CDL job --

If you are contemplating orientation at a distant location from your current residence (& this is especially true if your destination involves a "starter" carrier) --

BE SURE you have in your possession AT LEAST ONE WORKING CREDIT CARD that's in your name!!!

BE-WARE: Most/almost all airline, hotel & car rental reservation depts/travel agencies no longer want your business -- if you can't book it with a valid credit card...

Also: you'll need a credit limit on the card that is at least double the amount required for the plane ticket, hotel &/or the car rental in question.

Otherwise -- if/when you need to return home -- you may find yourself stranded/marooned at the carrier's location.

If you have quit -- or worse, been fired -- this of course presents an awkward situation (to say the least)....without the means necessary to get back home.

Your takeaway here: if you don't already have it -- get some serious plastic credit (NOT debit) in your wallet -- BEFORE you sign on with that distant carrier.

DISCLAIMER: No specific bank/credit union is being recommended here -- just info to give you a smooth, easier exit....if you later find that a prospective carrier has not lived up to your needs/expectations.
