Start carrying a passport in the southwest

Did something change in the last 5 years? Last time I ran those parts, just answering "yes" to the question "are you a US citizen?" was sufficient to continue on one's way...

I have been thru all the checkpoints mentioned in this thread atleast a dozen times since this thread was made and I have not even been stopped . They just wave me thru

 

What if you put that towel back on your head and flip flop in the dash like in the pictures you posted once of yourself? Might get waved in then?

 

True and as far back as 1956/58, if stopped at nite in Sierra Blanca, one would climb up driver side, ask. "Anyone in sleeper", I would say yes, EDGAR !!, Edgar would say "What". and he shimmied down and we rolled. Just the overall appearance and the accent...
