I have no idea what that is. That sounds roughly like a supercharger to me.

FWIW, according to the Volvo website, all VNL's got TC starting in 2022.

Not correct. You could order anything you wanted at that time. Mine is the VGT turbo.

I have a VGT Turbo on mine. The TC Turbo is different and helps a lot on lower RPM and is the reason they made the new trucks with the I Torque with 2.17 or so RAR and 13-14 speeds.

I know nothing but that new scania engine and trans on internationals is designed to run in a 1 to 1 direct drive 13th gear. 14th .78od is supposed to be run when empty or bobtailed. Claim it has best mpg currently out there .

So far I have not seen anyone real world running one with posted numbers. Seen some that tested it for a few weeks and did very good with it but not quite at the Volvo spec. It also almost doubles the DEF usage as well.

It may be a warranty item. If so it wont be THAT big a deal and i did break down in st.louis and have family here. So we will see.

    So heres where we sit.

Injector #3 entirely failed and basically got stuck fully open. Caused a huge overpressure issue and cracked the crankcase filter, blew out all the breather/drain lines, and pushed out the head.

Repair as it sits before they physically test the other injectors for issues is new #3 injector, cup, crankcase filter houseing replaced, all new lines, new head gasket and bolts, and potentially multiple new injectors. Also they are recomending an oil change and coolant flush just to be on the safe side since that gasket failed.

Thank GOD the warranty is covering a good chunk of this. Im on the hook for 2K. It would be $7900 without minimum and upto 35K for esentially a full fuel system rebuild at worst. Only things im covering are the fluids, gasket, filters and bolts along with some labor for said.

Entire inside of my engine bay is covered in diesel and motor oil and its....impresive.....how big a mess it made when they ran it up to do the diagnostic on it. There was oil dripping off the shop roof and one dude got sprayed pretty good when the head started spraying out the side when it hit 1200 rpm lol...

Luckily the block and pistons appear to be fine though they are going to check the liners and pistons physically anyway when they get the head off for the gasket. Shop tech said its lucky i stopped what i was doing turned my ### around and booked it to the nearest dealer as soon as i got the money light. Otherwise it woulda been on a hook in short order.
