    National, Tysons, Smithfield........

Best to just drop trailer & come back following week (If they are fast...... LOL).

Nope, don't do them at all. Remember those days all too well.

Does US Xpress even hire OTR out of FL? I see a fleet that hires in GA but not FL. Regardless, I've heard nothing but bad things about working dollar store accounts, lots of labor for no money. If you're new to the industry your job options are limited. Unless you get really lucky, you have to take the least crappy job you can find to get a year or more of experience to be qualified for the job you really want that pays well. US Xpress is not where you wanna be in the long run, big company=bad for the drivers. Do what you've gotta do for now and don't let them screw you over and push you around.

Once you have some experience, tanker can pay well with your hazmat, but the hours can be crazy just like reefer. I personally went the open deck route and avoided most of the BS, the only downside IMO was tarping, but it's not that bad. I haul equipment on a RGN lowboy now, I have trouble imagining I'll ever find a better gig than this. Oh, since you have doubles too, look into UPS. Fedex is weird, complicated, and iffy but they do have good jobs if you find the right one. Working direct for UPS can be great though, especially daycab regional runs where you're home every day and paid hourly.

Guess I dont have those problems. I sat more pulling van than I ever did reefer. I get a lot of drop and hooks. I prefer night driving and get paid for washouts.

Yeah, sounds like completely opposite for us.

No drop & hook for me as it's my own truck/trailer & on my own. Drop & hooks were definately nice back in my mega days. Though, still had a lot of waiting, too.

Night/day does not bother me. Actually, do like running nights.

It's the constant broken up sleep of few hours at a time over the years that has finally caught up to me.

Even when I have the days to sleep 8+hrs, I wake up every 1/2/3hrs no matter what.

Even a few weeks off does not readjust anymore.

Thanks Chinatown. I don't have 6 months yet. If I don't like where I'm at by that time I will give those companies a look.

Never thought about that with reefer work. Someone was telling me to do that type of work because you can technically haul reefer and dry van loads and stay busy. What are washout?
