That will be vehicle specific. Some 4 wheelers can take a high flow nozzle, the others will soak the user if they try.

That's the only sensible reason IMO. As far as the truck pumps and pick ups I do appreciate it when I see a guy pulling a big 5th wheel or camper (or other trailer) use the truck pumps instead of the fiasco they cause trying to wedge in to the 4 wheeler pumps up front.
