This was in NE France. At first I thought that his load had shifted and was only held by the railings, but then I relaised that in fact it was an offset load, overhanging on the left side and his securement had saved a disaster.
The outfit was crossing a canal bridge and to spread the load another bridge was placed on it but it was that that collapsed. Someone will be on the naughty step, and it won't be the driver. He was released from hospital later after being treated for head injuries. .

Bloody hell that is much more dramatic then I saw, so one of the tracks had already weakened but didn't go straight away then when everyone was wondering what to do next, driver still in the cab, it collapsed completely. The driver obviously thought he was heading for the canal and jumped without a parachute landing on his head. He must have a skull like mine, 3 weeks ago I tripped while walking the dogs and went 6 foot vertical into the river, didn't stop till my head hit the bottom.mjd4277, Bean Jr., Flat Earth Trucker and 1 other person Thank this.

What’s going on there? A bridge built above another bridge and it collapsed?

I guess they laid a temp bridge over the other one because of the weight and one side of the temp bridge collapsed.
