But broken pallets and worn out tires has been a mainstay as long as I can remember.

When I was in high school i worked at the local truckstop which was full service. In the summer when there was extra drive help we used to have to clean up over the hill where the edge of the parking lot dropped off. Pallets, tires, cases of whatever they needed to get rid of, general garbage. I don’t recall jugs of pee or poop bags. But the rest of the garbage has always been there.hope not dumb twucker, Iamoverit and ElmerFudpucker Thank this.

I’d say it’s a combo of a lot of things. People used to go inside the truckstop. Even when I started driving in the late 90’s, in the summer it was common to see a bunch of people inside the restaurant or in the tv room waiting for the sun to go down before they went out to bed. APU’s and inverters were uncommon. Sleepers go larger, auxiliary power and home appliances became normal. Walmart made shopping in a truck extremely easy. Now people don’t have any pride or self respect. They park and don’t leave their truck for 10 hours and they’d rather their truck smell like a bathroom because it’s too difficult to walk inside.drvrtech77, hope not dumb twucker and Sons Hero Thank this.

I remember bathrooms that I didn't need a tetanus shot to use.
granted they weren't as clean as home, but didn't have crap paper thrown behind the toilet, eitherhope not dumb twucker, Concorde and Sons Hero Thank this. -
I've just been parking further down the street at the Marathon. Rick has been allowing me to park there for free without any problems, so I just go inside to spend money periodically.
I usually go back over the Petro for the deli and Iron Skillet food, but I stay parked at the Marathon. I've lived in Richmond IN for a few years, but I've never seen the Petro littered to that scale.
