Ah Pete... Tax refunds. Many years ago; for some reason, I was cutting across to Brooks Rd from Lamar. Turned on to Democrat (must have run by Winchester) and was about halfway down to the rental car hive when I was stopped. Do not recall if signals or a cop directed, but I sat there for some time as a solid stream of people crossed the street. Like ants toting breadcrumbs, to the other side and scattered.
Apparently these were employees of an IRS processing operation on the south side, crossing to reach parking on the north side.
May have been a shift change or a atomic fire drill but I sat and they streamed on and on. Two things..By observation I fear for accuracy of processing.
and the dress appearances and antics in motion were forerunners of how you pretty well picture Memphis today.

 

The only good thing about Memphis is my job and multiple routes to escape.

 

Memphis has more POS cars and trucks running around on donut tires with parts flapping all over.
Last week I stopped at a traffic light before turning on to 51 to go north. There was a guy with his 4-ways on at the light to go north. Apparently when he stopped the front facia fell off the car. The guy slowly gets out of his car , picks up the assembly and shoves it back on then takes off as if nothing happened.

 

I hate it when that happens

You're driving briskly down US231 in KY and hear a noise and see sparks in your rear view mirror.
No biggie, it's the muffler dragging. Just get a piece of bob war off the fence and tie it up. All good.
You're flying and see smoke and fire coming out of an engine.... It's over.....

Hope you'll document , it's a pita im sure but i like watching a rebuild .

 

I think this will be more fun than a trip to South Padre; and will generate revenue vs creating a debit.
