The company before hiring you will consider you to live in the state of your CDL. So you would need to transfer your your CDL to TX, in your particular case, and then apply to a company if they don't hire FL drivers.

I won't swear to an answer. Some companies are super strict & would require someone who has a CDL from outside hiring area transfer their CDL before or soon after hire. Some companies may be more flexible & may accept a FL CDL & TX address.

Companies & real concerns in this regard because they have experience of hiring drivers who say they understand home-time is not important & will accept infrequent return to FL, for example, and after a few months start complaining about lack of home-time or time off & eventually quit.

You want the job but they have been living through the situation for years with hundreds of cases where some flexibility caused a big problem. "Don't climb over the fences, ignore the signs, and pet the tiger." When it causes a problem the company & customers do without. It's easy to be flexible when other people will clean up the problem. Trucking companies have people who've made this decision a hundred times before. Follow the rules.

Call a couple of companies you're interested in and ask.

One Schneider driver wanted to transfer from an East Coast state to a West Coast state so he had to change his CDL address to the new state.
    ~
I worked for a tanker company in an Eastern state and asked about moving to the terminal in Texas. I was told that's no problem, but must change the address to my new Texas address as soon as I get there.
I don't write the rules, but must follow them if I want to remain with a company. If I don't like the rules, then I'll quit. I'm not the boss, I'm the employee.

    Numb and tscottme Thank this.

Depends on the state. When I moved to Las Vegas from Tennessee, I just did a new photo at the DMV. My CDL & endorsements transferred to my Nevada CDL.
