Sitting around and jacking your jaws trying to downgrade a man working a job whether it is at a corporation like Walmart or anywhere else is just asinine. Some of yall sound like complete tools and you are. Not all of you of course are being dirtballs but some of you are. People have a tendency to defend where they work if they are treated fairly and ain’t nothing wrong with that. Better than sitting around crying about rates or crying about how much the job sucks. Whatever your feelings over Walmart are give the man his credit and due. He is working a #### job in a pretty tough trucking economy and it is his choice.

Walmart used to be a decent store to shop at way back in the day. In the early days they had decent stuff and it gave people in a town that didn’t even have a store a #### job. It made it to where they could go buy food without driving to the next town over etc. and let the town grow. They didn’t wreck every town like some would like to believe. As they grew of course they started laying a footprint and yes put some stores out of business. It is the way of the world. It is called change. I don’t always like it but I’ve had to adapt to it for many years.
The drivers don’t look like dirtballs
I don’t recall ever having a Walmart driver nearly run me off the road or block the fast lane etc.

I’m also prefer shopping at independent stores when possible. It isn’t always the case. Yes I order from Amazon, yes I shop Walmart and the wife gets her scripts there because the independents don’t carry them.

Some of y’all be bad mouthing Walmart from a loves parking lot right now. Think about it…

People do what is convenient most of the time. I work at a place where people have left and then people return. It has a decent work environment for the most part and frankly people tend to be where they are comfortable. There is a lot of human nature involved in how people work, shop, etc. I mean who moves out to a rural area and buys a huge home on a postage stamp lot other than they feel more comfortable with 15 neighbors a stones throw away.
Some of yall crack me up. Lighten up and enjoy life man. If Walmart drives rates down then adapt. Do what it takes or do something else.

So according to @rollin coal (I'm not doubting you) they are expanding their private fleet in the US, ostensibly as a hedge against outside carrier freight rate hikes, and yet they feel that in Canada it makes more sense to outsource the private fleet activity?

Good business is about profit. Sometimes government subsidies are part of the business model. Farming, dairy, and energy come to mind. It will be interesting to see why the private fleet dynamics are different north of the border.

I figured somebody would bring up the Canadian fleet. When that happened several weeks ago I googled it and read a few articles. This reddit thread also popped up:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Truckers/s/42SE2xGBwZ. Their Canadian fleet was seperate from the US Fleet. We don't go up there and they didn't come down here. Their fleet was part of Walmart International, separate from us. If anyone wants to read into it that that means the same fate for the US private fleet you're welcome to your opinion. Again I think you're wrong. It's an apples to oranges comparison and will have zero effect on the US fleet just like I think walmart brokerage having zero impact on them ditching the fleet.

I appreciate it! I always give/gave a 110% to whatever job I had and wherever I was at was/is the best place to be. Attitude is everything! I thought it was funny I got called a cool aid drinker for posting facts to back up what I think it means. Most of us have been members here of the forum for several years. I'm sure everybody will see what happens and we can comment on it 3, 5 or 10 years from now. My money says the private fleet keeps on keeping on and I'll retire from it in another 15 years.

I do look at the benefits a fleet provide. However, I've also learned that every red cent is the number one prime motivator for crony Capitalists. There are many reasons for Wal-Mart's new venture but only time will tell what the ultimate goal is and where that will leave their fleet.

No you got called a kool aid drinker for pretending that a large corporation isn’t driven by profit. And to be blunt you have continued to sound like one. And you have cried about it for 4 days now. But you feel energized now that Stacey has come to your rescue. The majority of this thread seems to disagree with you, so again maybe let it go. It’s beginning to sound whiny.

As for Stacey calling people dirtbags…. Well I can only assume that’s directed towards me. I mean I am the one that initially disagreed with Walmart’s propaganda department. And rolling coal generally disagrees with me. Sometimes I think he disagrees just because it’s me.

Any way. Stacey- you’re entitled to your opinion as am I. You come on here blasting people calling them dirtbags then in the very next paragraph you say “Walmart used to be a great store. Way back in the day” meaning they aren’t so great anymore. Nobody has said anything to him about working there. Except I know at least twice people have said we understand why he would work there.

Then you say if they drive rates down, then adapt or do something else. Well… no #### Sherlock. But that doesn’t me we have to like it and that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t voice our opinions. My opinion is Walmart is greedy pricks and don’t give a #### about nothing except profit. Including rolling coal. They aren’t nearly as loyal to him as he is to them.

Lastly, ask Tracey Morgan about the safety of Walmart. That accident was a direct result of Walmart’s corporate policies. And before smo defends them again they have been involved in 21 fatalities from 22-24 and 700 some odd crashes. Yes it’s fairly low for the number of trucks. But it will undoubtedly rise as they continue to lower the bar because after all they keep trying to expand.

where will all this end?? Idk. I do know that it’s highly doubtful that it will benefit anyone BUT Walmart. So don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s raining.

This is the last comment I am making about this. And remember it’s better to be a dirt bag than it is to get sandbagged.

I don't think it has anything to do with freight rates.
I believe its all about keeping product in DC's and on the shelfs in the stores.

No. They haven’t used them in years. A lot of them are parked in Bentonville.
