So today's news about auto tariffs are very exciting (cough cough).

My body who works as a cyber security analyst at some kind of automotive contractor was informed that their work week is gonna be now 32hrs down from 40 and that their Canadian branch is closing.

Seems like next few months are gonna be very rough for freight market. Everybody gonna suffer, but Canadian carriers should expect a complete bloodbath.

Some temporary pain is part of it. Other countries will suffer more than us because we're the golden goose here that they're taking advantage of. How about we eliminate the IRS and none of these tariffs matter? They just become a consumption tax that everyone pays and there's no more loopholes.

My son in law works at a major manufacturer. They make transmissions for just about every manufacturer. Mercedes uses the same transmissions as everyone. Parts are parts. They decided not to build any factories here. Reason being that Politics change. Not worth the long term investment.

    Iamoverit and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

Politicians change but politics? Funny thing about Biden when he took over he didn't eliminate any of the tariffs Trump imposed in his first term.

Long term somebody will supply those transmissions. We have Mercedes and BMW plants in the US. It only makes sense somebody here will supply the transmissions.

I'm not a politician and would never run for anything but I think we're on the right path here. The next 4 years is probably the only opportunity we will ever see of having a shot of dismantling the IRS. If it don't happen then we're in for more of the same ol same ol from the next empty suit R's and D's that take over.

I have been trucking for 10 years and went all over the states, but have never went to Laredo. For some reason Detroit to Laredo price never goes above $1.50 per mile. For the last year or two it has been $1.20 or so

Is it being hauled @ $1.20 if so that’s just ridiculous.
