It's just something he's a working on. Waiting for all the bugs to get worked out with the shippers, receivers, and the routes. There may end up being enough work for me to jump off the deep end into it.

My question hypothetically speaking anyways is to any recruiter or retention department at any company and that is this. Do you as a recruiter or a company that's hiring drivers ever sit back, scratch your head an say to yourselves, hmmm I wonder what it is that we're not doing as a company in order to retain good drivers and why are we having to work so hard to find and keep good drivers and keeping the majority of the trucks that we're paying for full!!! If I owned a company with a lot of overhead, I know that's what I would be asking myself.

Well...... the quality of drivers I a little different than when I first got started. It was a bunch of guys and gals that had 10 or more years experience, and all of you that she called were real contributors here, #### good drivers. Now many of the drivers are divas, they don't like to run "Climate Miles." There was a guy who came from RTI to us, and he complained about having to run more than 2200 miles weekly. It's a lot of drivers that complain about running hard now. Then safety is really cracking down on some of the bad habits. They want to eliminate speeding and following too close. I don't think that is a bad thing but drivers complain more thn ever in the lounge. Many drivers are unwilling to adjust. To me, it isn't a difficult adjustment, but to others who are maybe nearing retirement, it's difficult to change. We even send the bills through Sidekick now. I think it's way easier because you get everything, from load info, paychecks, messaging, etc, all in one app. Guys still want to go inside the truck stop and transflo. These systems are better because usually I know my next load info the minute I send my arrival call. Then the preplan follows. I didn't realize how outdated omnitracs was til we made all these switches. Climate is a very straightforward trucking company, with no frills and it ain't for every driver as you know. I think most powerhouse companies are feeling the pinch in terms of hiring and retaining drivers, but Climate don't exactly have their name out there like other companies do. I think it's moreso the quality of drivers out there moreso than some of these companies not doing enough to keep them. Me personally, I don't know what more companies can do to retain drivers. My buddy was working at Walmart for a while, and even them, a job that's perceived to be one of the best in the industry had a lot of whiners.

We have guys who whine and complain at fedex freight despite making over 6 figures and being home every night. For some people, being a baby is just hard coded into their dna.

Yea you do have a good point. A lot of drivers I know are never happy no matter what ya try to do for them. An then ya have those that holler to the moon for more miles, but then when they get em, all of a sudden loads start being late an they can't handle the performance needed to run the extra. Believe me the gig I went to is actually a lot more physical work than the work I had at Climate, yet I still run the tall miles right along with it when they're given. Of course with being paid by the load the amount of miles total isn't as important as how much the load is paying per the mile is. Cuz the loaded mile has to make up or attempt to cover the dead head ya racked up to get to the load. All that said, ya know how I detest being late and or not accomplishing what I said I'd do, so I still give it 100 % into making it happen everyday.
