The Monument, CO Scales Were Busy Today

Apparently they don’t know how to take a day off at that scale. Last week when I passed through on my way from Washington to Texas they were open on Saturday and they weighed me (I was legal,they sent me on my way).

Texas just had a surprise blitz last week. 58% put OOS... Seems to be the right way to do it.

It's common knowledge that during the twice a year national blitz that guys with trucks that are junk take the week off and hide at home. These surprise blitz are the way to go.

The last few years whenever the nationwide road check is announced a couple of states (New Jersey and Pennsylvania in particular) will jump the gun on it and do it 1 to 2 weeks early.

 

think a couple of states wait till the week after to do theirs.

 

WB Loma was open yesterday for the first time in almost two years…….almost ran it!

 

Douglas County did a blitz at the pull off on US85 above our railhead last week. 2 CSP vans with the scales out and at least a half dozen black Tahoes running around.

Watch the CSP Facebook page, both have been on days where they announced an interagency event for the mountains. They've got the EB Dumont scale under construction, so they've got extra personnel floating around. They just graduated a new class of scalemasters, too.

 

Vehicle inspections should be videotaped to keep weigh station personnel honest with results available online for public consumption.
