I've seen plenty of loads on DAT. Depends on how desperate you are to take them. Rates are pathetic, some as low as $1.30/mile.
Any decent paying run is either multi-stop or grocery warehouse.

Cutting back in the automotive sector. No OT, layoffs, etc. The plastic plant I’m working with right now is having trouble loading Trucks on time. Drivers are waiting 3,4,5 hours. Mainly because the parts are still being made. The squeeze is on. My Company dropped the pay 10% for new Drivers. I suspect they’ll want a concession from me. I’m ready to quit on the spot, if they try.

Generally the slow time of year for trucking is December through Easter. Then things start to pick up.

Then you can fire up the classic and get to trucking again.

Got laid off from a 30-40 door LTL. Was rough over the winter. Spring kind if looked like it might pick up, then I had 3-4 weeks of 20-30 hours and I got cut. Dock workers all were given mandatory rotating 1 day off a week. Couple P&D guys got their hours cut. 3 line bids got temporarily cut but the drivers were moved around.

A whole lotta guys were angry that nothing went seniority based and it was all spread around to give each guy about the same amount of work. Bloated Line guys pulling in 150k/yr living paycheck to paycheck because they gamble or blow money on overpriced toys they don't have the freetime to use threatening to quit because they lost 2 nights in a month. Knowing good and well if they quit they'd never even make half of what they make.

Have to wait for political climate to stabilize before freight gets busy…Cant compare today with last year.
Cutting wages sets a precedent for decades to come. Would really suck to be looking for a job when your only marketable skill is an enhanced drivers license. “Would you like fries with that”
