I have actually done ok at RB, but years ago I was a sucker at horse auctions. I knew I had a weakness, so I began to go without a trailer figuring I'd be safe - nope. Then I wouldn't take my checkbook - still ended up buying something somehow. I finally quit qoing!cke, austinmike, JolliRoger and 13 others Thank this.

We used (1979) to go from Tupelo to the name brand forklift dealers in Memphis. We were the little upstart shade tree junk boys to them.Take the pickup on the roll back. Get over in the industrial park off Brooks Road, Clark. AC, Towmotor, and Yale all in a several block area. Roll the pickup off and we go in it shopping their backlot trade ins. Sorta junk to them. We would visit and examine and get told lies and reply in kind and settle on as many as we wanted. They all knew me and would take a check as an immediate cash sale as they still had time to call the bank before we picked up. We was always vague on all except amount, a paid for invoice, and they would load it when we came for it.
We would go off and eat a good meal, decide on which to load we could get on then,or leave for later. etc.
Sometime the "manager" who had sold us would not be aware as we wheeled up to the back loading dock an had them fetch our buys.
The surprise wore off after a few raids and we just went in the rollback and with 3K in $100 bills. Some times; the effect of switching a roll from a pocket while getting your pocket knife out to scrape a SN # , clearly effects wonders on getting to the nut cutting of buying used equipment.cke, austinmike, exhausted379 and 11 others Thank this.
