I wear a ventilated climbing helmet for my hardhat, it's got the required chin strap on it. I got it after my fall and basically had to wear it everywhere for the first year. I still use it if I am doing anything that requires a ladder or anything like that. You get used to them and I kinda like the thing. I was just trying to find a link to the one I have, they are more spendy then a regular old hard hat but well worth it. Mine is blaze orange because I use it getting into my deer stand.

After looking at it, it is the defender safety that I have. It's like around $70 I think. Well worth the price super comfortable and way better protection than your run of the mill hardhat.

What if my sun glasses are safety glasses? Also I've hung a bungee from my hard hat a couple times as a "chin strap" to get people to leave me alone. Glad I don't have to go to places that ask those kinds of questions anymore.

I no longer ask questions about safety stuff because most of the time it's not actually doing anything. Just keeping some dummy in a brand new vest and hard hat employed behind a desk and can be #### sure he's wearing all his #### while he sends another strongly worded email about somebody not wearing the right color vest.

I'll put stuff on if somebody comes and tells me to but you won't find me standing in the sun in the middle of an empty parking lot with a plastic bucket on my head.

One of my customers requires safety glasses if you even think about stepping in the door. No hard hats though even when they are running cranes all over the place.

Until a few years ago I used to go there and climb on top on 14+ high loads to help with removing rigging and getting my securement/tarps on. Then they had a guy fall into a pit in a different area of the building. Now the safety guy yells at me if I step onto the upper deck of my stepdeck without a harness because it's over 4 ft.

FYI there is an OSHA exemption letter for loading and unloading trucks that says fall protection is not a requirement.

My favorite will be the Gerdau plant that loaded me with 4 6" x20' round bars and then said ok pull out in the street to tie them down. No chocks no bands nothing to keep them in place.o_O Told him he was welcome to unload the bars but I would be putting at least 2 straps before the truck moves. He was very mad that I had the nerve to hold up their loading bay for an additional 5 minutes.

Man I love the "We'll kick you out" threat. Do it. Im already unloaded with cleans bills #######. See if I care to never haul another coil in my life. Please ban me so I can see the error of my ways.
