'I lost £85k to romance scam - banks must do more'

I do feel bad for you. But it was your responsibility. I would get ticked if bank refused to give me my money on demand. “Because we thought this is a bad investment”
Yes this semi/trailer is unlikely to make me money directly. But the convenience, speed in hauling my products to places paying a premium, on short notice should help. Time lost driving I think will be made up not waiting for trucks that never arrive.

If the bank had refused him his money he'd have put them on blast, sued, etc.

I really have a hard time having sympathy. These scams have been around forever. We've been warned about them constantly for over 2 decades, it's not like they're obscure and new.

 

One thing to consider is that these scammers prey on older people who may have a lot money saved up and they try to “rush them” into sending money!

 

Why do I not give a ####.
If you're 85 and that stupid, you get what you get.
The bank doesn't owe you a dime.

 

Everyone else’s fault but his own………he’s a friggen loser. He deserves to be broke and homeless for being stupid.

 

Just a word of advice. If the woman you meet online immediately wants all your money don’t send it to them. I thought everyone knew that.
