That’s how I do it when I deliver to customers who have a no climb policy. Sometimes they give us a mesh screen to lay over the opening, some don’t. I put several of the ears over the gasket between it and the lid and prop it up on a few of the handles just to make sure it doesn’t accidentally close.

Make sure the seat isolator is unlocked as that can help lessen the impact. I always had it locked when I pulled dryvans and didn't really see the point of it...until I pulled tankers.

Just had to cut the seal and vent the tank on my current load so figured a picture would be good.
As you can see, even with me tightening the dome as much as possible there can still be some seepage as the liquid sloshes around. Most of that leaked out after I opened the dome though. -
