KW won't idle above 68F like previous truck. Company mechanic says that's normal now.

TLR Truck won't idle 5+mins when it's hot outside. Company mechanic says "that's no longer a thing, use auto stop start" and when requested to look at the ECM claims they can't do anything

So I work for a Mega and used to have an international, I put 200K on it with this company before the transmission had problems. My international would idle above 68 degrees and below 25. My coworkers have a mixture of trucks, international and Kenworth. All of their trucks are set the same, no idle over 5 minutes unless things meet the outside temperature properly.

My newly assigned truck is a 2023 KW T680.
It has an APU & No Auto stop/start.

I'm at the terminal in Phoenix and even at 90 degrees it still shuts off after 5 minutes. I don't need to run the truck ALL night, I just wanted to get the truck cooled off and then swap to the APU. It has also been annoying babysitting the gas pedal when idling to run appliances. I also liked to leave the truck idling with AC on after fueling and running into the bathroom/get a drink after fueling when I had the international.
Not to mention the start up process for this KW takes longer with the electronic dash and everything going through the checks.

Since I'm at a terminal getting work done I had them check the ECM and said the truck won't idle even though the temp is above 68F. After they worked on it, it still had the problem. The mechanic informs me they only checked the ECM for codes and it's not something they can turn off or on anymore because too many people were idling. He said the company did away with the temperature thing, so I informed him about my coworkers saying "they must be lucky they haven't gotten new trucks" but one coworker actually has a 2024 Kenworth with this company and it idles when above 68F. He didn't believe me.

I'm wondering what I should do next. Most workarounds involve the temp. I'm not looking forward to if I speak to him about this issue tomorrow. I'm also considering speaking to safety. Though I'm not sure anything would happen.

Any reasonable advice?

 

Yes, if it doesn't meet the temperature parameters many use lighters on the temperature sensor that's on the mirror
