Who says you need a 280 k house! That’s for rich folks. If you had a house in 96 for 76k. Why would you need two houses in a lifetime? That’s living the American spending spree. Rich folks saying they not... Take a glance at the rest of the world. Not many are buying multi homes a lifetime like buying a car. 70k is enough to raise a family and keep wife at the home. -We do it. Some years make more and some less, when family emergencies happen. and the kids are raised right without all the weird behavior issues. No reason to have more that one car then either. Save lots of money that way. Shoot I haven’t worked since February and won’t go back till mid June. We are doing fine. Had to tighten the belt, but hey it’s more boardgames and taking the kids to the local parks than going on a spending spree.
Rates are crashing and fuel to the moon!

it’s crazy how folks making over 100k are in debt and broke and some are making half and have more enjoyment in life.CAXPT, kwswan, exhausted379 and 3 others Thank this. -
Iamoverit Thanks this.

One thing I’ll add that seems to be lost on some here is that if everyone moved out to the country and lived on 70k a year, everything would cost in the country what it does in a city. Just look at western Montana and parts of Utah and Idaho.

I'm not advocating more Californians leaving their utopian state and ruining others in the process is what needs to happen. Just saying that urban life isn't the end all be all.

Much cheaper to live in Northern Michigan. It’s terrible over here. We have beautiful scenery, Impressive, fishery, and great hunting. Drive-by shootings and gangs seem to be missing. If you’re a one truck owner operator, you can get your own customer and not have to rely fully on brokers. For some reason, downstate guys that say that all the opportunities are down there seem to run broker freight all the time. Go figure. You go downstate and you notice everyone’s got a big late model SUV. Not only that it’s the ones with all the bells and whistles. You know all that extra power.. to tow nothing. Drive three hours north. And folks might have some more rust on their vehicles as they don’t trade them in every 5 years. You don’t need to have a big expensive house with a neighborhood government thing, nor commute back-and-forth to work in traffic. Same thing if you’re going to Montana. Go near the cities everything’s expensive drive 200 miles away from a city and it’s cheaper. There is nothing wrong with a 1000 sqft home. There is nothing wrong with raising your kids yourselves and not dropping them off at a daycare. Y’all can laugh all you want at me. I don’t even buy body wash or shaving cream. For some reason bar soap works just fine for both. I don’t need a whole bunch of fancy clothes. I wear my combat boots and carhartts every day. Who am I to impress? I’ve got five kids, three of them grown. Married to a wonderful lady. I know where I’m going when I die. And in the end, I’m just a truck driver. Not trying to live in a $280,000 house as a truck driver. If I wanted the rich man gold, I would’ve became a lawyer. Call me biker or trucker trash all ya want. My kids love the hell out of me and are loyal as can be to the family. I’ll take that on a trucker’s salary.
