My dad just bought a three bedroom house for 120k garage and all in Mt Pleasant, MI. It’s just not downstate. A new family could easily raise kids in it.

Folks in the country live a different lifestyle. It generally needs less money. City folks take their kids to jump station in a big luxury suv while some of here take our kids to church or on a hike. We hand me down our cloths with pride versus need to dress up like folks going out on Friday in Ann Arbor. My sone learned how to read at three years old and my teenage daughter can change a flat tire. Money is nice and makes things easier. But some forget your roots and culture. Their hands get soft and hearts cold.

 

They don’t, you are right. Not that many modern luxuries. But all summer they invade along US 127 and US 131 trying to live the lifestyle for a weekend. Some can live like that for good. I’ll take the low crime and big northerns. They are tasty!

 

What a load of ####! Your kids aren’t wearing hand me downs with pride while the other kids give them #### about it. As a kid who grew up poor I can say you’re ####ing delusional. You may can sell this crock of crap to people who didn’t grow up in the country and didn’t get to go to cut fire wood every Saturday or pick up hay. Or lived in a house where the toilet bowl actually froze because it was so #### cold. But, I ain’t buying it!! I’ve lived your American dream. You can be a homesteading hippie all you want. As for my kids? No thank you.

 

One thing is. If you want it, and struggle to afford it. Ask, do you need it. Is it worth struggling at the expense of raising your kids. Are your kids growing up in crime and drugs? Folks teaching the devil’s way? Will your kids grow up to be stronger individuals that can lead. Or will they become soft and follow.

 

There ain't a single job in my town above minimum wage . Unless u wanna be a cop or border patrol... even then I'm making double what those guys get paid and I don't have to get shot at either...

So sure u could probably by a house in town for 80k but what u gonna do , work at the dollar store?
