    Students don't use jobs boards.
They start with companies the school recommends.
Then, they get recommendations from this "TheTruckersReport" website, from other drivers that know which companies hire new cdl school grads.

Remember, this comes from just another schmuck with a truck: it sounds like PTSD. A LOT like PTSD.

The good news is there's good treatments for that, and some don't take long.

My suggestion? Get a job. Outside would be best. Physically active even better. Then, as someone suggested, get a second job. Put the computer in a box and put it away. Switch to a flip phone. Get a library card and use whatever time you are not working to read. Get a room somewhere, doesn't matter what because you'll only be there to sleep. Start a treatment plan. Save $2K per month. Buy a $7,000 Camry in three months. Move to an apartment in 9 months. In two years, you'll have $20,000 in savings, a good apartment to live in, an upgraded car, and a stable health history.

You are right. It's up to you.

Driving is not the answer, not today.

Driving gives you lots of time to think, and if you are already struggling with emotional, and/or mental illness, it will likely get worse quickly. I agree with @Accidental Trucker that a job outside, hard manual labor will likely help you “find yourself” quicker than trucking. Use technology minimally, it is scientifically proven to feed depression. Work hard, as you start to get somwhere, the feeling of pride in what YOU have done for yourself will help your self worth enormously. Not to,say you can’t drive truck after a bit, but get a few things ironed out, and you will enjoy it much more!

Treatments as simple as CBT, PE and EMDR. Your care giver is the one to explore this with.

Trucking is not the answer, because it's repetitive, non-physical and non-social. Might as well play a video game.

I’ve done therapy and I learned I need routine, and I enjoy driving

I’m out of shape, and don’t hsve a car, so a physical job is a bad idea. I’ve done construction before and it’s miserable.

You are confusing cause and effect. You are miserable BECAUSE you are out of shape. You are miserable BECAUSE you do not have a social network to give you a sense of belonging. You probably are also miserable because you eat junk.

You are right. It's up to you.

    Driving is not the answer.

    So get a physical job,
and in a week you're back in shape!
(Cross #1 off the roadblock list.)

    from the job,
    in construction,
(Cross #2 off the roadblock list.)

Now with money for a car.
(Cross #3 off the roadblock list.)

kinda goes around in circles, don't it?
    But - you, do you,
    regards

Awesome post. I noticed he did not respond to your video game comment.

Imagine how miserable a trainer would be stuck in the truck with an overweight, lazy, pity party throwing trainee…
