Thinking of Carrying My AR in the Sleeper—Legal or Nah?

You ain't nowhere near gun nut enough for the reality of the powder keg we are currently sitting on as a country.

What good is amazing geography if you have porous borders and open access to illicit firearms and ammunition in every city in the county?

The idea of an American Hiroshima has taken many forms and one of those is using our 2nd amendment against us.

If a guy is going to be halfway across the country when/if the unlikely event occurs whose walking home with a pistol?

 

How do you like it, I had flirted with the idea of a keltec setup somewhat similar but didn't follow through?

 

Versatile, but my groupings are not so good.

Youed be suprised what you can pull off with a pistol with enough practice..... I can #### well guarantee only military folks here have put near as many rounds on targets as i have. I mean ive entirely worn out about 2 dozen barrels of various firearms and can pretty consistantly ring steel at 150 with my macky.

That said i have a fair idea of the kinda powder keg we are on. I just dont think a rifle would help as much as many think on a long range hike. More the reverse in most situations and im pretty sure i have a better chance of either getting home or making it to a friends house with more supplies then a bigger weapon drawing attention to me. Especially when people start getting #### hungry. But im not going to get into a heavily political "what if" match. The question was it legal. And the answer is kinda and its dubious enough to not be worth it.

Taurus Judge .410 birdshot. Good for anything up close and personal, and you won't end up killing me if I'm sleeping in a truck next to you and you're a #### shot.

But hell I'm all about the 2'nd, so carry whatever you feel comfortable with. Just be prepared to face the consequences when you knowingly go into an unfriendly jurisdiction with a felony in your sleeper.

I personally drove completely around Illinois when my son graduated boot camp for the Navy last year because the magazine I had in my handgun was illegal in their sate. Stayed in southern Wisconsin 30 minutes from the base.

 

Ima just end on this note here. These exist and its rather facinateing what a talented gunsmith can do that is entirely legal even in low cap mag states and with no modification to your base pistol and still being entirely legal without needing an evil rifle.
