Wheew Dogie there Smokie ... youse a burnin' up that highway!!!
My brother used to do the same thing when he used to run Canada ... it got so bad that the family had a ready supply of roadside crosses to mark the inevitable spot. But it never quite got that bad ... in fact it eventually became something of an ego trip for him. He used to brag that every highway patrol officer in the lower 48 had memorized his date of birth, his social security number, home address, license plate number and how many points he had left before he took his 39th trip to traffic school ... a school ( BTW ) that was named after him. Lordy Lordy ... how that boy could talk about POing the four wheelers ... claimed he had seen more middle fingers than a manicurist. He always made me laugh though except when he began spending all his off time cleaning hair and bone gristle out of his front grille![]()

Yeah smoke that is a pretty good run, I know 17 is a pain with all that construction and 35 and 45 mph areas. I still hoping for the best here, but have been checking out other options as well. I've about had it with these containers.

Ah no John the legal speed limit the whole way. Wouldn't think of breaking the law especialy with CSA 2010 coming into effect. Seriosly I can do it runnig my normal speeds in 12 hours I see my self doing it in 11 hours. I really feel bad inconvieance my day driver though. Some of theese other guys I could care less, we usualy work pretty well togther. Like on Saturdays if he can't do something becuase of ullage he will call me to come in early so I can oull it.

Did 7 loads last night 1, 2 hour load, and the rest were locals. 2 of the loads were right around the corner loads. Figured a way to it make up to my day driver for bring the truck back late. The truck has to go up to Selma to get the trailer worked on. The trailer has to be stripped before going and when the replacement comes in we have to put the equipment back on the trailer. Since the trailer going up there is his responsibility, I figured I will put all the equipment back on his trailer for him and just tell him go home I got it. He can either accept the jester or not it is his call. I can only do what I can to make ammends to him.

Ahhh Smokie ... he's gonna be alright ... I've waited plenty of times for my co-driver and since we don't keep the truck in Charlotte ... when I have to wait it is usually in the lower lot of an oil company with no A/C ... just sittin' there by myself ... bored out of my wits ... and waiting ...
Too many variables in this job to be able to get everything right all the time ... just keep it in your head that there will be times and circumstances beyond your control that you simply have to work around. No sense gettin' irritated or agrivated about it ... that's just the way life is.
Sounds like you got a pretty good co-driver ... I had one, but he died of cancer last year and the one I have now ain't worth the powder it would take to blow him to H---, and I mean that with all my heart! How in da heck this clown ever got hired is so far beyond me as to make the whole world look silly. You know, you've seen 'em before ... the kind that just don't give a #### about anything or anyone except himself ... it's a #### shame you have to work with someone like that. But I keep him on the truck, because I need someone who lives close-by so we can slip seat ... otherwise the truck would have to be sent back to Charlotte so it could be properly utilized 24/7. -
That bites having a co-driver that is not worth a fidlers fart, the guy I share the truck with has been hualing gas his whole adult life and is just a wealth of knoledge and is real good about doing operator level maintenance. He fixes the little things and I keep the inside of the truck clean. I just wipe the inside down on Sunday morning, my Friday night. My old co-driver good night wouldn't fix nothing. He used to leave things for me to fix, small stuff headlights windshieldwipers, dog ears etc. It got to the point I would fix the small stuff at the beginning of my shift the put the broken stuff back on at the end.

What are dog ears?

1 year 4 months and this thread is still alive
..Wonder if Eagle has been bombarded with apps because of this thread..A few weeks ago,i watched a driver dropping diesel at a truckstop. As he took the hose off the trl a lil fuel ran out..he cleaned up the small mess with what looked like a bounty paper towel..Is this some special towel or just a plain old rag?

It is a pad that soaks up fuels and oils but not water. Use them a lot in environmental clean ups.

Thank you about the dog ears.
