That's exactly what caused this to. It was blocked and it's something I never thought about till it happened. I'll be cleaning the front one tomorrow. I have to figure out and fab sleeper mounts tomorrow. Cant seem to find any one from junk yard so some steel ones will be made![]()

I’m not a hundred percent by any means. But that looks a little like the rear motor mounts on a mid nineties Pete with a CAT.
the rubber part I mean. Probably just enough size difference to make you cuss cause they won’t workAdisiwaya, Deere hunter, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this. -
Well actually haven't had to do a whole lot to the old girl in a while. Except swap out air compressors
Question for the late night ponder. Can I use a 6nz bare block as a base to build a mechanical engine? Been wanting to build a higher hp engine and use parts from my blown pete and my broken b model block. Could I swap front structures over from a B? I've never tore open front of one.
I'm wanting to start buying parts for a 550hp jwac engineAttached Files:
Oxbow Thanks this. -

No 6nz has the cam in the head. The old 3406 it’s in the block. Maybe with a lot of creativity and experimentation it could be done but I’d say you would be better to try to put a mechanical injection pump and injectors into an otherwise complete 6nz. It’s going to take some machine shop capabilities in no means is it going to be easy. I’ve been told by more than one engine tuner type that the old mechanical block and head is tougher than the 6nz stuff.
If you’re looking for 550 hp I would go with an air to air after cooler way before the jwac unless you can’t fit it. -
You have to use a mechanical block. Preferably a low mileage low horse block. Less fretting in the lowers and top that way. HP in a mechanical isn’t cheap or easy. You HAVE to have a solid foundation or it will not live. Do not buy E model parts or it won’t produce either. Spray pattern on nozzle must match the piston crown. The timing on pump cam must match those 2. Compression ratio means 0 when picking the nozzle. There are 2 totally different 14.5 piston crowns that must use different nozzles. There are 2 totally different 15.2 crowns with different nozzles too. Then you run into nozzle crack pressure and some more dumb ####. Getting HP out of a mechanical that’s useable and dependable isn’t rocket science but does take a specific build sheet that differs depending on expectations. They will never produce the torque of an electronic either. My advice is build and electronic and put in it later or really buy a truck with one already in it. Building trucks will break youAdisiwaya, NightWind, SmallPackage and 4 others Thank this.

^^^^^^^ that right there is some wisdom. Building trucks can break you. Or take a hell of a lot of money. One of my guys was experimenting with his b model in a 91.
The last time he changed oil he did it going down the highway. Well, I guess he didn't change it because he couldn't pour any oil back in it. Then he got carried away with his 6n Z and overhauled it four times in two years.
I've also been jacking with my 2WS for four or five years seeing what works better or not and it's cost me a lot of money. But when it does run by golly, it will. I left my 03 pretty much stock just put a different file in it. So it's the one that keeps getting me out of a bind. And I don't know a 10th of what @wore out knows.
But I sure do like him sharing his wisdom with us.Adisiwaya, NightWind, SmallPackage and 7 others Thank this. -
Should I stick with a mechanical engine or should I rebuild a 6nz to put in the old girl? I am wanting higher HP have both available. Just haven't decided what I want to do. This motor I put in I can tell it's getting tired.
-
I'm thinking of taking the 6nz out of my 01 Pete and putting that in here. My biggest worry is the sensor and wiring. I'm too stubborn to go buy and run another truck -
That’s easy as ####ting in bed when you’re wide awake. You can buy a harness that makes it really easy swap to electronic pedal and your off.NightWind, Oxbow and Diesel Dave Thank this.

How would the gauges and all that hook up? Any suggestion of company to buy a harness?
