Wait so the OP has a college degree and chose Schneider? I thought you said you did your research. You're making 2500 miles and breaking 1200$ at 6 months? Consider yourself lucky. When I first started I was fighting to even get close to that.

I know a guy who retired as an IT Engineer after he had a career in trucking. I also have a college degree. Working on my second one. Have a 4.0, am published, and have an award for my Undergraduate research (just to name a few of my accolades). That took me...what 15 second to type all that? I'll be waiting a long ### time for anyone in this industry to care because my college credentials do not matter in this industry. What matters is I can drive and more importantly back a truck. I can deliver freight on time, pass inspections, and manage my clock. THAT is what matters in trucking. And for the record, I don't care if anyone cares about what I've done in school--I was just proving a point.

Also as someone else said, you basically came on this forum and insulted the same people you asked for help. You can say you didn't have that intent or that you didn't all you want, but you absolutely did. Honestly in more ways than one. A luxury prison? Do you know there are guys out here with multi millions of safe miles? They've made this their whole career because they love it. Just because it's for you doesn't mean it's "slave labor." Which that statement is an entire other issue that I'm not going to get into right now.

You are doing a job. You're making a hell of a lot more money than a lot of people. You travel and you have a free place to live inside that truck. Could you make more money in another industry? Sure. Especially logistics if you get on the other side. You have a degree...you honestly should know that. Should trucking pay more? Absolutely. But, so should EVERY other industry. Inflation and greed are real, but again you should know that if you're as educated as you say you are.

So why are you here? If it's really that bad then why don't you take your degree and go do what other people perceive as a "real job?" Make your money. Be home. And be out of your "luxury prison" as you put it. By the way, there are people who have actually been to prison here. And I"m sure they also take offense to this whole ideology you're spouting off about. You can get off that truck any time (along with all the other issues that come along with incarceration that I won't get into).

2500 miles at just over 1200$ clearing on your check. I was BEGGING for those kinds of miles before I got off the truck last year. I was barely clearing 800$. I was the driver they turned to to save loads. I was the driver they put impossible loads on because they knew I would get it there. I was the driver that never failed loads, never said no, and never gave dispatch a reason to doubt my ability to get the job done. You are not in some horrible situation you think you are. You want to make more money? Stay put. Get a year under your belt and find another company that has equal or better miles and better pay. You really want to make money? You should have started specialized, but you did your research allegedly. Stay put until a specialized company will take you. It will probably be another starter and they probably will pay similarly to what you're making now. Get a year or so on that speciality and then change to a better company. But you need to figure out exactly what you want to do and keep your hopping to a minimum because that will ruin your career real quick.

The grass isn't greener. This industry is all about "what bull #### am I willing to trade for the check at the end of the week?" Even local and LTL drivers have to deal with some #### to get the checks they get. And in this economy? You better be happy you're getting the miles you are.

And leave your "dumb truck driver" mentality at the door. We get enough of that from the general public. We don't need to be tearing each other down within our own industry. And don't tell me you didn't say that because the moment you brought up your education and then mixed it with that attitude you did. There are driver's on this forum with more knowledge by way of experience then I could ever hope to have. You would do well to befriend them instead of alienate them.

I’m shocked to learn that they are long gone. Never to post again. A little humble pie goes a long way.

Guess I was speaking to the wind :D, but I feel a certain obligation to protect the honor of my fellow drivers. Maybe it can serve as a lesson to others who think they are better than everyone else because of the little piece of paper they spent 40k$ on. Guess I'll slide my little soapbox back under the bunk.
