Huh... what are the odds these two threads would pop up the same day?

    So who's at fault?

I agree but totally different circumstances. This guy got zapped when he got out of the truck. Snapping a line at 60mph not the same. Besides, it happened in the UK, don't they distort the truth some?

    Kyle G. Thanks this.

You never know. Years ago in my town a trucker at an intersection, window cracked about a 1/2 inch, lightening got through it, killed him right where he sat.

I've always heard if struck by lighting or a live wire on vehicle the occupants are protected by the rubber tires. Until you attempt to exit.

Touch ground while still in contact with vehicle completes the circuit producing a shock.

I read, a standard wire on a pole carries between 7,200 and 12,000 volts. A wire carrying 120,000 volts I doubt would be low enough, and if it was, the power company would know about it. I agree, stepping on the step plate still should have been insulated from the ground. This story stinks,,,
