I built a new computer for Gaming (WOW) and photo work (lightroom and photoshop). I got it up and running last night, it's fast.

    i7-860 2.8, overclocked to 3.2, Liquid cooled
    Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 mother board
    8GB DDR3 1600MHz
    128GB SST main drive
    1.5TB data drive
    ATI 5770 video card
    750 watt PS

It plays WOW great, I can get 75+ FPS in 25man ICC. That is the video settings to max and running on 24in LCD at 1920 x 1080. It runs lightroom and photoshop very well.

Nice. Better get a back up data drive. First click that 1.5 makes, pull the data off before it dies.

Sweet. I gotta build three new machines if I can find the extra scratch.

    It's an electronic Corvette.

Nice, I'm curious on what you paid for the 128GB SST ?

Not sure if you know. If you start doing any video editing or want higher resolution out of your 24" monitor from your video card. Buy a low-end workstation graphic card if you can. This is the cheap one I bought>>
    Quadro FX 1800

If that's the case, than I built a Ferrari :biggrin_2559:

Yikes - that's a monster. I clicked to follow your other thread to see how that turns out. Since you're a gamer, I'm curious to see how the benchmarks turn out on that (FurMark, 3D Marks 06, FarCry2 bench, Crysis Bench, etc. - whatever you got.)

    Current game-build:
    EVGA X58 3-way SLI (motherboard)
Intel i7 920 OC'd to 3.9 Ghz (processor) on Thermalright copper ultra-120 (cooler)
    6GB OCZ PC3-12800 at 1600 Mhz (memory)
    Asus Ati-5970 (video card)
8 - chan surround (sound built on motherboard)
Maxtor SATA 512 Gig for main (hard drive)
Maxtor SATA 1 TB for programs and games (hard drive)
    Windows 7 Pro 64-bit (OS)
    Sony CD/DVD Read-Write
    ViewSonic 21.5" full-HD LCD (monitor)
Antek full-tower with about a billion various fans modded on (case)
    CoolerMaster 750W (power supply)
    Z-Board (gaming mouse and keyboard)

    rookietrucker Thanks this.

Actually, I don't play games that much at all and the video card is geared for workstation systems. I did get Assassin's Creed II with the processor. I loaded it and tried to play it(just could not get into it). The video graphics looked great and didn't notice any lag. I built the system with intending to do some video editing and possibly learn to write some I-app code. My old workstation (5yrs old) has been getting louder and louder. Instead of buying one from manufactured PC's makers and get charged double. I decided to built my own and save some money. It did hurt upfront in purchasing the components but I plan on keeping this one 4-5yrs.

The early tests we ran on the system all passed. After about 36hrs, system started acting up and doing all kinds of weird stuff. We had to RMA some parts otherwise I would have pics posted in my thread. Why the early test passed is beyond us, but it was cool watching the stress tests w/graphs showing 12 core processors redlined at 100% for 15minutes or 24GB of memory redlined.
