It's fun for me to look back at this 4 1/2-year-old post now because it sparked my decision to apply with Cheema-Sumner in January 2020 (I figured if someone bothered to clarify like that, then the good Cheema must be pretty good). I ran with them until mid-July 2023 when a blizzard of tasks hit me that couldn't get done if I kept driving. It easily ranks as my favorite trucking job of all time. It was a perfect fit because I prefer to run big miles and Cheema's got the freight and dispatchers to achieve that goal. If one of those two factors is missing you're screwed. It wasn't just the miles though. The whole atmosphere and setup at Cheema is a company driver's paradise compared to 90-95% of companies. The main drawback is lots of I-5 if you're OTR, but they're always expanding so it's less and less of a routine thing now. I hope to return before the end of the year.

Good morning,
You had indicated that you decided to apply to Cheema-Sumner in 2020 through July 2023. If this is correct, then that's what I would like to speak with you about. -
With that said, I am not here to hide the ball. The case was filed in San Joaquin County, July 11, 2024. The case number is STK-CV-UWT-2024-0008153.
My client was classified as a "local driver," subject to 12-hour driving limits, working Friday through Tuesday. The claims center around retaliation for: (1) Refusing to drive beyond the 12-hour limit; (2) complaining about truck interiors not complying with COVID regulations (that's why I'm particularly interested in speaking Mathematrucker, since he was there then); and (3) refusing a long-distance job, due to bad weather.
While most attorneys really only go looking for the things that will help their case, I would like to learn about what's wrong with the case. More importantly, if I want to learn about the trucking industry, I better talk to people who actually drive trucks for a living, rather than pretending I know anything about it.
I'd be very grateful to speak with anyone who is willing to speak with me about it (provided you're not a representative of Cheema (e.g. supervisor and up) because I can't communicate with represented parties).
I am happy to answer any questions, and am aware I am a fish out of water here.Last edited: May 21, 2025
