With that kind of an outlook / attitude, what’s the point of even living? I think I need to copy my comments below, so next time I see a depressing post like above, I can just paste it and not have to take the time to write it all over.

My thought is: if it’s broke, then fix it. Don’t just say woe is me and drown yourself in sorrow / spirits.

If the work isn’t good in your area, then you need to do what you can to go find where it is good.
I have a wife and two children, who are now teenagers. I got my CDL in Reno, in May 2013. Best job offer I got while there in CDL school was $. $.27 per mile with ITS Logistics. Earlier, I learned about a 3 week program called ShaleNet, which offered free training and certifications to work in the oilfields of the Tri-State area, west of Pittsburgh. After I had my CDL., I drove from Reno all the way to Steubenville, Ohio to attend that program.

When I graduated from that class, I looked for a job in the Tri – State area. After a week with no calls, I found out the demand for CDL’s was bigger in Texas. So I drove to Texas and knocked on MANY doors before getting my first CDL job, as a vacuum tractor trailer operator with a self-insured company in S. Texas for $20 per hour.

20 months later work slowed down after the huge price drop in crude and a 20% drop in our pay. So I resumed searching and two months later I found a new vac-truck job, for $30 / hr., in New Town, North Dakota. After two years with that company, I moved to Williston to work with cranes for a few dollars less.
18 months after that I found an opportunity to work in the great White North, where I am happily working and living today.

Think about all the frustration big time inventors in our countries history have encountered. If they had just given up and said, “woe is me”, then we would not have the lightbulb, vulcanized rubber, the Model T, Hershey’s chocolate and a multitude of other things we take for granted now.

IF YOU WANT SOMETHING, YOU HAVE TO GO OUT AND GET IT! As they say, nothing comes easy.

As the G.O.A.T said, “Fight fight FIGHT”!!!

Been there, done that. Striving is a trap. I had the fast sports car. I wanted something faster and cooler. I had the 10k dollar drum set, 15k in recording gear, and 3 full stack 100 watt amps with customs guitars to go with it. Never had time to play it due to working 70 hours a week and living in hotels. Also, always wanted something new or better. I got in shape, paid 50 dollars for haircuts, had tailored suits, and stayed clean shaven. Ate out at fancy restaurants weekly with 1k dollar watches. I put 200-300 dollars a week into stocks.

You know what all that let to? Needing more money and working even more. To the point I was taking prescription sleeping pills and prescription amphetamine analogues to power through 4 hours of sleep a night due to stress. Heart problems at 30 years old and abject misery 24/7.

It's a bunch of ########. I'll work a job to pay the basic bills but I sold off all my fancy #### and toys. You can see someone on the outside killing it but not know the misery in their mind. Do you truly think "the GOAT" is a happy man? That guy is a miserable rich ####### like so many other miserable rich ########.

I found myself hob knobbing with upper middle class douche bags at a golf course and realized how ####ing stupid it all was. I hate golf. Yet there I was because it was the way to move up. But all the work, money, and stress didn't get me away from my own mind. And at the end of the day, the most I ever made was barely over 100k/yr.

Chasing money is the biggest lie I ever told myself. I don't know what the answer is, but it sure ####ing ain't that.

Howard Hughes was asked when he would have enough money. He said, "just a little more."

He died trapped in isolation in a suite with tissue boxes on his feet, surrounded by piss jugs and bare ### naked. Absolutely miserable the whole time.

Well... There's a saying and I don’t know where it come from but it says: "I'd rather be miserable and rich then miserable and poor" and I think most people including me have that thought in their head everyday we wake up going to work.

Nowadays, it is not keeping up with the Jones's, it's buy/have more than the Jones's. Entirely wrong attitude.

Your income doesn't determine your wealth. Your spending determines your wealth. EVERYONE that thinks they will one day make enough money to not be poor are spending more money than they make and they always will. Janitors and school teachers can retire as millionaires if they spend less than they make and invest wisely. People who spend too much have an endless supply of excuses for spending more and more and they ALWAYS WILL.
