He said in his original post that he doesn't mind spending money to make his job a little easier, and I agree with him. It wasn't really a lot of money, and after you fix your tarps a few times you'll probably agree that $5 a pop at harbor freight for some blankets is very worth it. Melton will supply old tarps to use as padding, but I don't really trust that, and they will tell you to cut up an old strap to use as an edge protector, which works for some loads but not others.

Still figuring out the buttons, new here. Anyways, guy said in his original post he doesn't mind spending a few bucks to make his life easier, and that's smart. It's common knowledge flatbed companies don't supply you with everything you could possibly need for every load. They will have stuff you can use like old tarps for padding or pieces of a strap for edge protectors, but that is sometimes not good enough and you're risking a claim. Some stuff they reimburse, some they don't. I have never once regretted buying any of it. If someone had shared those specific things with me when I was starting out, it would have saved me a few headaches.

Melton requires you to put the 4-in straps away every time right? You think a company that requires you to do that extra work would give you the strap winder for free. If they're trying to charge you for it that's ridiculous.
On a side note don't go buying all those fancy knives like the last guy and run out of money. They have spies all over and they'll send you home on the gray dog. (boattlebot reference) -
Nobody gives you strap winders. Also quality edge protectors like 6" or bigger. You can spend your own money and make life easier. Heat shield window coverings are easily 200 bucks and that is something I always buy.
