Hello everyone I’m back, so I got a good deal on a Cummins engine and I went and picked it up last weekend. The data plate is missing. I wanna verify what this guy told me about this motor. I’ve been on Google all day there’s gotta be an easier way to punch in an eight digit serial number. They’re just has to be a way for it to tell you what it is without jump through all these hoops. That’s why I’m on here asking you if you can give me any help with his eight digit Cummins Serial number I would greatly appreciate it. 10633996 thanks
Cummins Engine Identification help please

NTC-350 original build date of march 1977 CPL 160.
If you go to parts.cummins.com you can enter any ESN in the search bar and you can see the engine dataplate info as well as parts, though the parts side is usually limited the older they are.BoxCarKidd Thanks this. -
So is this a small cam engine or a big cam engine and how do I go about getting my dataplate and all the information I need and want for this engine?
W923 Thanks this. -
Put up a picture of the cam follower boxes behind the air compressor from front to rear of the engine….it is pretty easy to tell
Might also say big cam below them( if it is)Diesel Dave and bjytech Thank this. -
Could be wrong but I believe CPL 160 is small cam.

I don’t have a good picture of the cam follower boxes, but I will when I get off work at 9 AM. Here’s my problem I was told this is a 1977 big cam 400. I didn’t want to mention that until I got some information from somebody on here. I’m building a cab over show truck and I want to restore this motor. I need all the information that I can get on it.
OLDSKOOLERnWV, Diesel Dave and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
So now I’m hoping that you’re wrong on the CPL 160 part lol
-
I don’t know if this helps but I have a 1976 small cam ntc-350 in it now with spun bearings
These two motors look nothing alike -
here is my data on engine that’s in truck now -
Something else to consider….,
That engine has most likely been rebuilt more than once and it’s anyone’s guess what specs it might currently be built to
And if you’re going to rebuild it…you can make it into pretty much whatever you want….it should have an aftercooler.. I Can’t seem to view that picture either but the big cam and small cam generally look pretty similar until you get to the bc4 then there are several obvious differencesbjytech and Diesel Dave Thank this.
