Just thought to update, after my knee injury and going through PT and the work hardening program to get me ready to get back to work...

    I called it quits.
Nearly 70 years old now, and I had not planned on driving much longer anyway, so I quit Swift.
It was too much like starting over, and I just could not bring myself to living out of the truck any more.
I guess I got used to being home more than 3 days a month, with a real kitchen and bathroom.

    Moosetek,
Sorry to hear that it's time to hang up the keys but your health is more important. It's better to retire now and be able to enjoy some quality time. You have earned it. Good luck and hope you have a successful recovery. Look at my avatar photo and see what my wife and I enjoy doing after my 44 years and 3 million mile career. Good luck.

Semi-retired. I don't make enough on SS not to need a bit more money.
But it will be at a better pace and at home, which is nice.

Kind of going thru this myself, my wife severely fractired her wrist which is requiring me to be at home to assist as needed at least for a couple of months. In all likely hood Im probably off the road. I wish these companies would give us the oppturtunity to work from home , maybe in assisting dispatch, order planing, recruiting something, Seems like such a shame to loose all this experience. Anyway good luck and Gods speen getting thru the knee surgery.
