Excellent insight and many thought provoking points. I had considered the advantages with experiences driving in different areas of the country and weather conditions, but the weight ratio as you described it was not considered. Of course my wife is onboard for the regional until she gets used to me being gone. I don't think the sound of the refer will bother me. Being ex-military (sleeping over a ship's boiler room), plus going with my uncle in the 80's who has always driven a refer, I can sleep in less than ideal conditions and would think the unit would drown out other unregulated outside noise that may be more of a hindrance.
Thank you for your input, Kabar. I still have not made my final decision, and you know momma has some influence, but you have given me great points to add in the mix.
Starting new driving job the 29th. Going with Marten.

I sleep fine with the refer giong. It only bugs me when im trying to watch tv. Alot of other drivers hate the refer. They will back up next to me and as soon as they hear that refer, they pull out. Had a guy empty his pee bottle on my door after i was asleep. Guess he was mad about the refer.
-
Some drivers can be $%$holes. They like to pull ur 5 wheel pin too, But ima chick so i really got messed with.
-
Yeah, I should check my fitfth wheel more often.
-
thats why a pre trip should never go undone.
-
I always walk around the truck every time i'm away from it, even if its just to pee at a rest stop. Just don't trust anyone, especially at a truck stop.
-
That's what the world has come to, I'm annoyed by a reefer so let me pull your pin and maybe we can kill a family in a minivan... no wonder this great land is in such a decline. No humanity towards each other anymore!
-
Yes it is very sad

HI Looney, first time posting here, love your thread, been reading it all day lol..i wanted to go with Marten, seem like a solid company, but the recruiter told me something weird...she said that during your visit to the Dr. for a physical,if the doctor concludes you have sleep apnea(how a doctor seeing you the first time can conclude to this is strange but..)you would be sent home, any truth to this "new rule"?
-
No... depending on the state you get the physical in they will make you get a sleep study done based on two factors during your physical... if you are overweight and/or have a neck size over 17 inches. You will get a physical but it only be for 6 months till they get the results of a sleep study and what treatment if any the sleep doctor determines you need. I don't agree with how they do this but that is what is going on with the sleep apnea stuff.
