After nearly 5 years of working with my current carrier pulling for amazon, I'm calling it a quits. I have been applying for other driving jobs, but haven't been able to really find any good jobs. Looking to get out of door swinging and do something else.
My current company is slowly giving me the cold shoulder (to make me quit/not giving dispatch as often) and I know it's inevitable.
Looking for recommendations from all of you guys here.
Looking for a change

You and me both are looking for the same thing . the problem is it’s a horrible time to be looking for a job in trucking . Not a lot of decent paying companies hiring right now and every week it’s the same companies posting ads on sites like Indeed. What’s that tell you about these companies, they suck to work for . A example is Tim Hortons they now start at $32.55-$38 and they can’t seem to keep drivers . literally Hiring at every location right now
They other big problem you will have right now is if you want to switch to a more skilled position. Ie tanker , flatbed, roll off every one wants experience, no matter how much dry van experience you have and being that nobody is hiring companies are very selective in who they hire right now
I thought i found a great job with Tandet , hauling a chemical to concrete plants in dry bulk tankers . $30 an hr , assigned truck , day shift and mon-friday. until the driver manager said i’ll be honest with you . This is the hardest tanker job we have . You will be working in mud all day hauling a 50-100lb hose up and down stairs and this is all year around. I had to turn it down because i felt it was a little bit too physical
Unfortunately I’m seeing more potential with DZ driving jobs On-site fuel , garbage and so on . Good luck it’s tuff to find any one to call you back right now . I’ve never seen it so bad tying to land a job right now
You also need to be very selective because if the new job doesnt work out you might have a really bad time getting a new job Martin brower is hiring in oshawa $32 a hr to startLast edited: Jun 5, 2025
