It’s about time for the to get an overhaul on my 1999 60 series 12.7. I was thinking of getting an inframe for now I was thinking of getting a kit for around 3k online and I have a local shop that charges 3.5k for labor the other day I was browsing on the Chinese website alibaba (it’s a b2b website where you can buy direct from Chinese manufacturers and wholesalers) I found complete overhaul kits starting at 200 bucks the expensive ones go for around 600. So the question is as we all know most parts are already made in china anyways so would you guys risk using a kit like that or you guys think it would be total garbage I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions
This might be the stupidest thing ever but(overhaul kits)

No!
Remember you get what you pay for.
OEM parts are made to certain specifications. What you're looking at is not, It's built to look like OEM parts.W923, Arctic_fox, Star Rider and 3 others Thank this. -
$3.5k for labor is the first red flag to me and then Alibaba parts at that price is another one. It's kinda like using single ply toilet paper at the water park while you're still wet. Sure, it may work temporarily, but it's not something that's going to last with your derriere untouched.

Sounds like a good idea. I always try to cheap out on repairs for trucks I take across the country.Diesel Dave, broke down plumber, Feedman and 11 others Thank this.

Next post from the OP,
Help! One of the parts failed on my $600 rebuild kit and I have a big hole in my engine block. They won't return any calls either!Stay Puft, W923, Diesel Dave and 11 others Thank this. -
I dunno how much faith I'd have in anything from a website that sounds like a streetside vendor in Agrabah.
broke down plumber, Feedman, MACK E-6 and 4 others Thank this. -
Things I trust more then that rebuild kit,
Stay Puft, W923, hope not dumb twucker and 12 others Thank this. -
It’s actually fairly common price in the area that I live it’s a small townDeere hunter Thanks this.
-
That sounds like Backyard Billy Jo pricing. I'm all for shadetree work, that's how my vehicles get fixed, but that price seems way too low for an actual shop to do it.
-
not sure what the small town has to do with the pricing, but the pavement isn’t invented that would hold the tracks I would make getting away from that shop. My brother has a S60, just had it inframed about a month ago, $26,000. But, I think that truck will run for another 960,000 miles now. 600 dollar kit be lucky to see the end of the drivebroke down plumber, LongHaulTrailer, Feedman and 6 others Thank this.
