Chris, you don't want to recruit that kind of negativity into a decent outfit. Never mind that many of the office personnel have worked in Lincoln and can tell you the horror stories of the games they play with their drivers over there. Some people can never find happiness and this is one of those situations. One small bump in the road and the "petulant child syndrome" awakens and the downward spiral begins, again. Just sit back and watch a lifetime of poor financial decision-making and career decisions continually steam roll this guy, over and over and over again. Logical thinking isn't everyone's strong suit.

Technically it’s a .25 match for each of the first 2% (ie it caps at .5%)
It’s every 8K. Sometimes the timing sucks but the equipment is being taken care of. Unless you’re parking at a terminal every night and going home getting the truck serviced is going to be a disruption to your routine. I’ve had those jobs, they didn’t take as good of care of the equipment as they do here even when it was sitting at a shop every day. The flipside is I have never been towed in from the side of the road here. Previous employer I was on the hook 2-3 times a year because they’d tell you to run it until it won’t run no more.
The loaners I have been in have always been at least reasonably clean if not exceptionally clean. They are high mileage because what else are you going to use? I’ve usually been given the choice to get in a loaner or to wait. I’ve done both depending on the situation. Moving trucks sucks but I’d rather be running than staring at a hotel room wall.
Light just turned green at my consignee will try to get to the rest if I have time later today. -
To the larger point, I don’t know that I would push SSB to jump to FCC. They’re good folks and I have been treated far worse for far less money.
But I’m sitting right now waiting for a load after a delivery appointment that was set a week ago. It doesn’t happen every time but it happens often enough and that’s a not unreasonable pet peeve he has.
I have some health issues that fortunately can be managed but require lots of testing. I just wrote a check for $1500 to the doctor’s office. The insurance has paid out $0 year to date. I have a ways to go before I hit my out of pocket maximum. Shelling out 4-5k for prescriptions then chewing through the deductible for his wife’s needs probably would be hard, to use British understatement.
Then there’s the X-factor, learning a new company and its system takes time. I can understand why when he was in a tough spot he went to the devil he knew so he could get running quickly. I hadn’t been truly OTR in 14 or so years so our experiences aren’t comparable but it took me a while to find my groove. -
As far as fuel solutions go, it what it is. There are ways to work the system to lessen the burden that you figure out over time.
I made DEF harder on myself than it had to be, trying to get there just above E is too much stress. I treat half a tank like E until I am on my way in (and even then I don’t get much below 1/4). If you have points on the brain you can put 5 gallons a day at Love’s or TA/ Petro or 4 gallons a day at PFJ. Which if you start at 3/4 tank and add every day will keep you going for a good long time.
Anyway that’s enough on this tangent IMO. -
Got Truck serviced here at mechanicsburg…now headed for Bethlehem to pu going to Bedford pa…del tonight..giving me 3117 mi for the week..then pu at Hershey going to Edwardsville..
Knucklehead, Friend, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this. -
Bulk DEF for a company runs about .80c a gallon compared to $3.50 at truck stops, there is a reason so many companies want you getting DEF at terminal locations, Fuel wise the splash and go to the next stop doesn't make much sense but Love's for example can offer anywhere from a .50-1.00 a gallon off pump price discount to carriers, PFJ is about the same but as a rebate.Knucklehead, Friend and trucker-chase Thank this. -
Do you work for this company? No you dont. How about running your mouth about the company you do run for or have in the past instead of ones you read about and interpret in God knows what kind of way to make them seem like some crap company, when in fact they are one of the better ones that would probably turn you down anyway.
