Buying a higher mileage emission motor?

I intended that to apply to both old and new. There's always something they know that you don't. So if it looks like the newer emissions motors aren't the money sink sale it might be th better option.

 

2 million miler is a 1989. I run hard seasonally, most I ever put on this one was 87,000 in 1 year. A friend of mine has a 1985 with 4.7 million on it, he bought it in 1990 with several hundred thousand on it, ran the rest up himself. I know old iron can break a fellow, know it first hand! But if you can turn a wrench, and stay up late sometimes, and are willing to learn how to fix it yourself, it works well.

 

I know very well there is a difference, I have had mechanical engines, and full, choked up emissions, even have had several with def. Around some people, the system don’t last. Then, the engine does. I know of several engines off the top of my head that have emissions crap on em, and hit a million plus. Like I have mentioned before, YOUR MAINTENANCE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR. Or the lack thereof. Personally, I hate DEF, and if it makes an issue, it is promptly removed

 

Fascinating, Captain, I believe we've turned a corner,, bye bye manuals, heck, I bet someday you won't be able to GIVE a manual transmission truck away. I visit a classic car sales site, and most all the classics that are manual aren't sold. The retro styles themselves are attractive today, but the stick kills the deal everytime. Automatics are here to stay,,
