If you do not have a home and are getting paid per diem, you should worry about it.

The company is not the one responsible for calculating whether you are qualified for per diem or not.

Per diem is only available for when you are away from your tax home.

I am in Illinois. They require a PHYSICAL address on your license....they want to have a general idea where to find you if you fail to appear or anything like that. They also require that you receive mail at the address on your license, so that if issued a citation, any correspondence will reach you.

Now for the fun part I ran into. My PHYSICAL address is NOT a valid MAILING address. Any mail sent to my PHYSICAL address is returned to sender by the post office as undeliverable. I go to the post office to retrieve my mail from my PO Box. That is my ONLY valid MAILING address.

My driver's license has both...they won't do JUST a PO Box. All of my vehicles are registered to the PO Box without any mention of my physical address. My only fight comes annually when I file my annual LLC renewal. They want a PHYSICAL address, and they always leave the PO Box out of their records, and I have to call to tell them they have to keep the PO Box information because that is the ONLY mailing address I have. I guess they don't realize that there are folks out here who, for one reason or another, do not receive mail at their home.
