I know this is old, and I hope it's resolved, but I've seen several Star with a worn pin in the bracket where the two rods meet. The bracket then hits the firewall and the clutch brake doesn't work. If you dont have a buddy to watch, it usually marks up the firewall.
Western Star clutch? Will not go into gear without jamming it!
