You may can answer a question for me. I watch videos from Mexico, and one guy visits older people that still live like your grandmother did. To make a long story short, these women take whole corn and grind it by hand until it's just masa.then form their tortilla and make it. No flour, no nothing. When they finish with the tortilla it looks like the flour tortillas we buy in the store. My question is what does it taste like? That has to be a true corn tortilla so why do the ones we buy taste like they do. Personally, I prefer corn over flour. I don't know if I'm making any sense.

We were doing a crane move a decade ago. Stopped at the TA in Marianne. Next day, we all got on 10th street and hit the second scale to the east. This old woman came out to check our permits. One of the trucks blew by the scale with the OVERSIZED banner. Old woman pointed at the truck and the driver honked the air horn. Old woman ran back into the building to call the HP. 5 miles down the road HP had that truck pulled over. 4 of them. They were at the back of the truck pointing out the lack of a beacon light when I went by.
We got empty and were sitting at the TA in Wildwood when that driver pulled pulled in still loaded. I asked him why he ran that scale.

My uncle married a full blooded Mexican and she makes tortillas this way... they are the best tortillas you will ever eat in your life.. You will never eat store bought tortillas ever again...
The difference is basically the difference between having ur gramma make some fresh bread from scratch and how amazing that is or eating store bought bread..jamespmack, JolliRoger, CAXPT and 14 others Thank this. -
We got the same type of drivers at the company I work with... Idaho was pulling in every single one of our trucks for awhile at the scale on us93 North of jackpot NV because guys were running without a permit at all... mind u were only doing 60ft long rebar loads and Idaho we only needed a permit for front overhang.. Don't even need to hang banners.. The most basic permit that takes 5 seconds to shoot a text message to the permit guy in the office... then they wonder why we get treated like ignorant apes everywhere we goFriend, jamespmack, TripleSix and 14 others Thank this.

I borrowed the girl from singlescrew's post to help fix a forklift strike, but I think she got the wrong impression when I asked her if she wanted to lay down something shiny she could show off.

One of the guys I work with has an app on his phone for that stuff. Just type in a description and it generates video and images. Comes up with some weird stuff, we asked it to make a video of someone chasing a goose with a piece of farm equipment and it made a video of a guy dragging a massive old mechanical push mower on a leash after a goose in a field.jamespmack, CAXPT, Feedman and 12 others Thank this.

I wish I could tell you. Grandma made them with flour.
What I remember is the flour was kept cold to keep the weevils out. Manteca was just snow cap lard. Salt and baking powder I think. But all the same I've never been able to duplicate itjamespmack, CAXPT, Feedman and 14 others Thank this.
