Quitting an OTR job and getting back home.

When I started with my company, I fueled off the clock because I was running low on time. Compliance called me to warn me, that it was a strike. So now I get it. Even if forgetting to go into an industry status, I've put it into on duty after fueling, and sat for 5 mins. And got no strike. I got it down now

 

I stopped reading this thread after a while because who has time for that much nonsense. Getting back to the original question, assuming that you don’t want to burn bridges and make getting another trucking job difficult, and assuming that they don’t give you an opportunity to unload your personal stuff near your home terminal (where I assume your car is parked), I would suggest getting some boxes and shipping your stuff home, either by US Postal Service or UPS or FedEx.

 

If they're feeling generous...most will say "find your own way home"

Ship your belongings to your home via FedEx or UPS.

 

Food for thought: Unless I missed it, no one mentioned "Adverse Driving Condition".
You went out of route because of a "road closure" and during that time decided to PC home.
Not that I know anything about such stuff...just throwing it out there...

 

Super poor people that use the company semi as a 2nd car put themselves in jams when the reality that the semi-truck isn't their 2nd car show up. If someone doesn't have a car to use, save $500-2000 and buy one. It may mean not having a $400 cable tv package for a year, and not eating from Door Dash for every meal, and maybe not everyone in the family over age 4 has their own iPhone 19 Ultra Mega+, tablet, and $300 basketball shoes.

Take a couple weeks off and if a few more file for a leave of absence when the situation is better you have a job waiting for you

 

You don't have to quit. These things happen. Just get to the yard, they'll let you stay in the truck for a night or two while waiting for your ride, load up your gear and go home. This will put you in the strongest position for when you're ready to come back on the road - either with Swift or someone else.
