Nope. Fortunately I've never had to do kingpins. Dad's iron got greased every weekend so nothing really wore out and the one fleet I worked for ran mostly straight vac trucks. Those were lucky to get much more than 20-30,000 kilometers a year since most of the work was stationary.

 

One of my wife’s nephews got a small forge a year or two ago, and he’s been making some really nice looking knives out of old railroad spikes.

And your comment , "Cows home for summer". Where do the cows stay in winter.
We only had belly deep grass here in summer with irrigation, Winter, the Fescue grew with just rain.

Old broken crosscut saw yields some good steel for knives. Man had talent and perseverance to make those. Very nice...

 

Next Monday will be a year that I lost him, his knife shop is just as it was the last time he walked out of it. Knife blanks, handle blanks all cut out and laying for completion. I don’t want to move anything, so prefer to leave it as he left it. But, I may use a blank to pattern a knife here in the future from a saw blade I got from the steel plant they used to cut Monel, should make a good blade…

 

CAT used them in forklift steer axles years ago. Smaller capacity and slow in warehouse ops did pretty well. Lumber yards and longer bouncy loading not so much.

 

About the only place I really ever seen poly bushings used regularly in heavy trucks were in logging trailers. Usually just in a couple of the walking beam pivots IIRC and in the compensator at the end of the reach.
