I had no issues with Halvor...of course small things would come up, but nothing we couldn't work through. The only time I have ever had to help unload was Ashley Furniture, that was maybe two loads in the 5 years I was there full time. Those loads were on a dedicated run that was filling in for and was asked ahead of time if I was ok with doing them.

If I had a fleet, I would absolutely allow it. Heck I pretty much work two on two off now. Maybe if things ever improve I’ll change my ways.
There’s only one technically and that’s if you aren’t employed 30 or more days you need to be treated as a new hire. New app, drug test etc. Not 100% sure but if so I got ways around that
I may myself close up shop if I can find a 7 month on and 5 off situation. Want to just work winter and take summers off.
Just find the job that works best for you, it’s out there somewhere. -

Some think that you need to be available 365 days a year and have a set of knee pads available to be a real truck driver.
It ain’t true, real trucker’s do what they want when they want. They work hard and play hard and don’t take crap from anyone
trimetro, drh72, nextgentrucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
Schneider has or did have some fly away fleet. You would fly to some location they need a fill in driver and drive his truck. When finished you fly back home. Till they need or have another job for you.
nextgentrucker and Concorde Thank this. -

Original poster just go to work for a good company that offers vacation pay and when your time builds up, you can take it off. I know many companies that have drivers that take three weeks off every year and usually once or twice throughout the year they take an additional week off. With pay.
nextgentrucker Thanks this. -
Melton is one day off per every 7 out and you can stack them up. There's 4 weeks in a month, times 6 is 24 days...halfway between 3 and 4 weeks. You get an extra day off on top of that for every three consecutive weeks you spend out, so that would be another week off, or, you can cash those days out a $200 each so you'd still have a check for some of your time off.
nextgentrucker Thanks this.
