Texas is infamous for flooding, That's why we build so many man made reservoirs, flood control. The only natural lake in Texas is Caddo Lake. I love the cool water of the Guadalupe, it's been 20 years since I've floated that river, all good times. Sorry to hear of the current tragedy.

Its even more crazy when you see a wve of water coming into an area that under normal rain fall never has water. The thousands of dry creeks that are in the Guadalupe river basin fool lots of people. We can have 10” of rain and not one creek in the area fills up. The new folks moving here and rv vacationers don’t realize the water that fills the creeks comes from rain fall in areas miles away. Sometimes 100 miles away on that river. Sunny down here and rain up there means you better clear out cause the water is coming.

I live in a town on the Guadalupe River and flash flooding happens every once in a while but this is something else. It's rare for a foot of rain to fall in a couple of hours.
While Kerrville has a majority of the national attention, the same flash flooding happened all over central Texas yesterday and Friday.buzzarddriver, silverspur, austinmike and 3 others Thank this.
